The Heart of Harvest Season: Camp’s Orchard
The Forgottonia Times™ Report
Each autumn, Camp’s Orchard opens its doors to welcome visitors with the irresistible aromas of freshly pressed cider and warm doughnuts. Just six miles southeast of Roseville, this family-owned orchard has become a community favorite since Rick and Tammy Camp purchased the property in 2006. What began as a recreational venture has blossomed into one of the area’s most beloved seasonal destinations.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by shelves stocked with local goods, jars of salsa, bottles of hot sauce, and rows of jams and jellies. But the true stars of the show are the apple varieties, including Summerset, Fire Cracker, Ruby Frost, and Arkansas Black. Cider production remains at the heart of the Orchard. Once limited to a small press producing 150 gallons a day, their upgraded system now churns out up to 400 gallons in just a few hours. Visitors can sample the results in traditional cider, refreshing apple cider slushies, or paired with their famous cinnamon-sugar and glazed doughnuts. On weekends, freshly made glazed doughnuts often sell out within minutes of leaving the fryer.
Fall festivities extend beyond apples and cider. The pumpkin patch offers everything from jack-o’-lantern classics to ornamental gourds, while younger guests can enjoy bouncy inflatables, and a tractor-pulled barrel train. Local schools frequently visit for field trips, learning about apple farming, pollination, and sustainability practices such as composting apple pulp to nourish the orchard’s trees.
This season, Camp’s Orchard is open now through November 26 at 373 105th St., Roseville, IL from 8:00a.m. until 6:00p.m. every day. Visitors can stop by for apples, pumpkins, cider, and more, and on weekends enjoy sandwiches prepared by Walnut Grove Meats. Whether you’re sipping cider, picking the perfect pumpkin, or biting into a warm doughnut, Camp’s Orchard offers an authentic taste of autumn rooted in tradition and family spirit.
