The Forgottonia Times™ Report

For adults age 60 and older in Warren, Henderson, and Mercer counties, the Jamieson Community Center’s Senior Nutrition Program provides a warm, hearty meal for seniors, as well as consistency, care, and opportunities for connection.

Partially funded by the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging and United Way of West Central Illinois, the program serves nutritious meals designed to support strength, energy, and overall wellness for older adults. Each year, more than 55,000 meals are provided to seniors across the region, helping ensure access to reliable, balanced nutrition.

The program offers both congregate meals and home-delivered options. Seniors who are able to attend in person are welcome at open congregate meal sites during week days throughout the three counties. These meals provide both nourishment, and a welcoming environment where participants can socialize and build relationships. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance of the meal.

For individuals age 60 and older with limited mobility, home-delivered meals may be available on a temporary or indefinite basis. An assessment is required, and service typically begins the following week. Seniors or family members interested in either option can contact the Jamieson Community Center office at 309-734-4251 for more information.

Meals are served with 1% milk, and participants may also take advantage of a popular potato bar option. Monthly menus highlight a variety of familiar, comfort-style meals paired with fruits and vegetables.

Through nutritious meals, welcoming spaces, and meaningful social opportunities, Jamieson Community Center’s Senior Nutrition Program continues to play an important role in supporting the health and well-being of local seniors.
