Celebrate Community Conservation with Prairie Land Conservancy

By - Jaime Dylan, Program Coordinator, Prairie Hills Resource Conservation and Development, Inc.

Prairie Land Conservancy (PLC) invites the public to enjoy a celebration of land conservation at their annual meeting on Tuesday, March 31st at 4:30 pm at the Macomb Country Club. Admission is free although people are welcome to purchase $35 tickets for the dinner held after the annual meeting. Stephanie Bishir, partnering wildlife biologist from US Fish & Wildlife Service, will be the featured guest speaker.

Stephanie holds an M.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University, where her studies focused on wood frog movements and habitat use. She continues to have a keen interest in amphibian conservation, and is working to improve amphibian habitat and increase Illinois chorus frog presence on the refuge. She also works on a variety of other projects and surveys throughout the year, including invasive plant species control, waterfowl and shorebird migration counts, and frog population surveys.

“I hope people are able to come out and celebrate our 2025 achievements with us and hear our goals for 2026,” says PLC Executive Director Dr. Victoria Livingston. “If people are interested in conserving their land or learning about other ways to get involved, we would love to answer their questions.”

The mission of Prairie Land Conservancy is to protect wildlife habitat, open spaces, natural areas, and sustainable agriculture within west Central Illinois. PLC is a Land Trust Alliance accredited conservation land trust and a division of Prairie Hills Resource Conservation and Development. With over 2,400 acres of land in their care, they work every day to protect, restore, and enhance woodlands, prairies, and wetlands for future generations to enjoy.

Dinner tickets are available for purchase online at prairielandconservancy.org/events. Folks are also welcome to mail in payment or stop by the office at 321 W University Drive in Macomb to drop off a check along with contact information.
