Presentation on the Mysterious Disappearance of Fay Rawley
The Forgottonia Times™ Report
On Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m., the Lewistown Historical Society will host a captivating evening at the Lewistown Visitors Center, 222 S. Main Street, when Rick Klinedinst recounts one of central Illinois’ most enduring mysteries: the 1953 disappearance of Fay Rawley.
Rawley, a well-known Fulton County farmer and former bank official, simply vanished one November night after a visit with a friend in Macomb. Both he and his new Cadillac seemed to disappear into thin air. Despite signs of a possible struggle at his home and years of speculation– including searches at nearby sites and countless theories about what transpired– his fate remains unresolved and continues to fascinate true-crime enthusiasts across the region.
Mr. Klinedinst’s storytelling will bring historical color to this long-unsolved local saga, blending fact and folklore in a way that has previously drawn crowds. The event is free and open to all, though seating is limited. No reservations are required, but early arrival is suggested.
In addition to presentations, the Lewistown Historical Society oversees the Rasmussen Museum, Rasmussen Blacksmith Shop and Narrow Gauge Railroad Depot. Tours of these sites are available by appointment through June– contact Ashton Woll at aewoll23@gmail.com or call 309-547-1009 for details.
