City of Macomb Welcomes New Community Development Director

The City of Macomb is pleased to announce that Cesar Suarez will serve as the City’s new Community Development Director. Mr. Suarez will officially join the Office of Community Development. He brings extensive experience in municipal and economic development, having previously served in director-level positions with the City of Harvey and the City of Joliet. His professional background reflects a strong commitment to growth and community advancement.
In his role as Community Development Director, Mr. Suarez will oversee the administration and enforcement of the City’s development, zoning, housing, and property maintenance regulations. The position is responsible for managing key programs, including Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, the revolving loan fund, the Enterprise Zone, and floodplain management. Additionally, the Director provides staff support to various city boards and commissions and leads community and economic development initiatives aimed at enhancing the City of Macomb’s long-term vitality and overall quality of life.
