Grills Gone Wild Recap

By - Bushnell Community Pool Board Members

The BCP Board members are overwhelmed with the generosity of our small town & surrounding communities. Thank you to everyone who showed up to help Bushnell Community Pool with our Grills Gone Wild 2025 Event. We are grateful beyond measure. The pool board pulled together & made it a great event once again with the help of many friends, family, community members, organizations & corporate sponsors. We were able to raise approximately 8k to help maintain the pool for Summer 2026.

The grillers were hard at work very early in the morning, and there were definite standouts. We couldn't have the event without the main event: THE GRILL TEAMS.

- Rollin Smoke (Sponsors SKC Yard Service & Repair & Dan (Burr) Crowl)- Terri & Danny Mast

- Just Super - Bob Gound

- Ugly BBQ – Randy & Rachel Guppy, Kobe Martin, Machai West & Chris Taylor

- Not Fit to Eat – Brent Glisan, Joel Fiekert, Hannah & Rickey Cortez

- Jackson St BBQ – Mike Baker, Dominique Brybag, Sarah

Thank you to the Bushnell VFW for being so accommodating!!! Bushnell Women's Auxiliary really showed up to help & thank you all for THE Kitchen help & also for handling the VFW Aux lottery raffle donation. Special thanks to the volunteers for holding down the front end of things!

Our DJ had some great music & did a great job handling the awards ceremony. To our amazing auctioneer, Duane White & Kyle Kelso, for the use of the auction equipment- thank you! Duane is always the first to step up for the Bushnell Community Pool. We are forever grateful for the continued support.

The judges did very well. Headed by Rene Luan Cookson-Ford. Dylan Koester, Paige McCord, Brad Beekman, Ron Promisson, Bruce Lorton, Robin Powell Wilt, Dave Stuann & Jeff Warmath. The tally group did very well at adding the totals quickly to get our awards ceremony completed. A special shout-out to Dewain Hulett & Hulett PubliPro donation of the Grill Awards (Cutting Boards).

The BCP board was also impressed with the community support from the sophomore class. These young people were AMAZING & helpful. Dylan King, Annie Smith, Thomas Anderson, Kyra Kitch, and Hayley Kitch. Mr. Howard (Joseph) is the new Civics teacher & he coordinated the help. Becca Howell, for your part in organizing this, thank you. City of Bushnell & Bushnell Municipal for the quick turnaround with the power box & setting up barricades.

Thank you to ALL who showed up to support in any way. Donated, baked, organized, judged, grilled, bid, and collected donations. The list goes on! Special thanks to Devon (Bushnell Park District) for being a great sport & taking a pie in the face for a great cause. The food was amazing. Bushnell Locker did a GREAT job on the pulled pork for the meal. Huge thanks to the UNPAID auction staff for your help with the auction.

But AGAIN, thank you to our small community for stepping up & having such a great event & we hope fun was had by all. The BCP board is planning GRILLS GONE WILD 2026 & welcomes constructive criticism & help with fundraising events. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to a board member to find out how to get involved.
