The Lewistown FFA traveled to the Illinois State Capitol to participate in Ag Legislative Day on April 9th, an annual event that highlights the significance of agriculture and agricultural education across the state.

During their visit, the students met with legislators and Governor J.B. Pritzker to discuss agriculture's role in Illinois' economy and rural communities. The day offered a chance for FFA members to experience a legislative look at agricultural programs in schools and policies that benefit farmers and educators alike.

The Lewistown chapter also had the opportunity to connect with Representative Sharon Chung, a known proponent of agriculture who expressed enthusiasm about visiting the region in the near future.

The National FFA Organization, which envisions "growing the next generation of leaders who will change the world," empowers students like those in Lewistown to engage in civic activities that promote leadership and career readiness. The organization's mission is to make a positive impact by developing young people through agricultural education.

Lewistown FFA continues to be an active voice for the future of farming in Illinois, taking steps to ensure their voices—and those of future generations—are heard in the halls of government.
